Unfortunately all wristbands for the Mela have now been taken up.
We would like to thank everyone that has applied for wristbands, these will be delivered by post and should arrive at least a week before the MELA.
Bedford's first ever Mela is hitting the Town on Saturday 30th August.
Its all happening between 12 noon and 6pm at Mill Meadows off the Embankment.
Mela is a celebration of Asian culture and creativity- a feast of sights, smells, sounds and tastes inspired by the Indian sub-continent and South Asia.
There will be traditional and contemporary music and dnace on show, arts, crafts, fashion and food, Asian performers and visual arts, creative energies of Asian and other culturally diverse communities, urban classical and experimental music, DJs, music stage, food and bar.
We have two international singing stars attending this year's Mela, and here is a little more about them:
Sukshinder Shinda
A gifted singer, composer and producer, Sukshinder Shinda has collected an impressive string of hits that are embedded in the hearts and minds of millions across the world. Shinda has been a force in the Asian music scene for over 15 years and along the way over 200 studio albums. Since his debut solo ‘Gal Sun Ja’ he has followed up the string of smash hits with ‘Balle’, ‘Collaborations’ and now ‘Living the Dream’.


His extensive experience of music recording has already included working with artists like Kuldip Manak, AS Kang, Apna Sangeet, Panjabi MC, Sardool Sikander, Heera, Meshi Eshara.
Jazzy B
Also known as the crowned Prince of Bhangra Born in Punjjab and raised in Canada- a transatlantic superstar who has introduced a fresh new image to the world of bhangra music. Since the debut album “Gugian da Jorra” in 1993, Jaswinder Singh Bains, aka Jazzy B has become one of the most important names in Punjabi music world of modern times.
The man has acquired the tags of-the “Original Folkstar”, the Canadian Sensation and the Crown Prince of Bhangra as he continues his revival of Bhangra in a big way together with wooing audiences across the globe. With releases of massive hit albums such as “Oh Kedi”, “Tera Roop” and more just goes to show this megastar packs an enormous tidal wave of a punch.
Born in Punjab India, raised in Vancouver he now flirts and lives a jet set lifestyle.
